How can US employer sponsor f1 student to draw from lifelong residence?
What are the procedures for a US employer to sponsor a f1 student to get permanent residence in the US? Is it a long process? And what must they and the student do?

Yes, it is a long process. The employee will requirement to apply for an H1-B visa and then after that, apply for a green card. This takes over six years in total, assuming that he get the H1-B visa.
US employer can not sponsor an F-1 student until the student has graduate, gotten experience (possibly OPT) and then the company sponsors for a visa. If that works out then they can sponsor for a green card.
