What visa would I call for if I intend to live within America for 6 months on my funds? How thorny is it to do this?
I have been looking at the situation a lot and would approaching to live in America for something like six months. I have nest egg and would save more before thinking on a serious note nearly going, but just wondering what situation I would be looking at if I chose to go?
I am a UK citizen, born in England, and would not be intending to work surrounded by America while I am there. I would have enough money to foot rent up front for an apartment wherever I chose to go, and would have plenty to live on for the time I was there. What type of visa would I need? Since I fully intend on going wager on home again.
Sorry for the lack of information, I am only just starting to look surrounded by depth at the possibilities open to me! If anyone needs any further information to answer my question properly, I will save an eye on the responses and subsequently respond myself if I can! Thanks in advance for any help.

All VWP (Visa Waiver Program) countries must get a permission/visa 48 hours in credit before boarding the plane to US.This rule doesn't apply to Canada.
You can probably go the US embassy for a B2 tourist visa, which can go for up to 6 mo, with another 6 mo after renewal.
or you enjoy a visa waiver (b/c your UK passport) for 90 days, then leave the country for a few days, and come back for another 90 days. (you dont enjoy to go back to the UK, just be off the US)

The visa Waiver program is basically you entering the u.s on in recent times your passport for 3 months, HOWEVER, you will not be able to leave the U.S to go to canada or mexico, as the consulate of the U.S have caught on with immigrants doing that and basically living contained by the u.s illegally. Applying for a 6month u.s visa with a good dune account balance will pre-approve you anywhere from 3-6 months. It's not too long of a wait. (gives you more time to find place and choose a safe and sound city)

If you coming from certain European countries-those exempted from visa requirements-you can get automatic "visa" to stay in U.S. for definite period (maybe 60-90 days)...But sweetie, you sure you have ENOUGH of "savings" to show U.S. authorities that you will not be needing work those 6 months while contained by U.S.?...Costs of life in U.S. are pretty high, and getting highly developed all the time...
