How can my boyfriend go and get U.S. residency or citizenship if hes an informal immigrant?
Weve been together for several years, to marriage is an option but I'm within college and living across the country from him so I would prefer waiting, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to search out legal status. I looked into the K-1 visa which allows a us citizen (me) to bring my fiancee (him) to the states and it provides a temporary working visa until were married. The solitary problem with this is that it requires my fiancee to be out of the country and show 16 years of proof of living there for those 16 years, but my boyfriends been living and attending public school in the us since he was a baby. Does anyone know of any other types of visas or work permit that would allow him at least the chance to work legally contained by the us.
also, if we were to get married, what forms/type of visa can he apply for that are meant for society who already live in the us and want to get married and be able to go and get either a permanent residency or citizenship, but without getting within trouble for living here illegally. Thank you.

He's the answer..... The only road to do it involves him leaving the United States and starting from where ever he's from. He simply can't do it from the United States.

If his record in the United States is verbs.. no arrests, no convictions, no identity theft, no deportations, etc... there's a good chance he will return with the waiver. They will consider the fact that he was brought into the country illegally as a child and have no choice in the matter.
I strongly advise you to use the services of a virtuous immigration attorney to prepare his waiver request. It's not something for a amateur to undertake. Personally, I'd recommend you use an attorney who is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association...

You are wrong on one count. He will not be allowed to work on a K-1 visa. Once he gets it, and comes put money on, you MUST get married within 90 days. After you get married he MUST wallet to adjust his status (apply for a Green Card). As a part of adjusting his status he can apply for a work permit to work until the Green Card comes within the mail.
Since he is an unauthorized alien, he can't get legal status and marriage will not changeover that.
You need to get yourself a really good immigration attorney. I married my husband. He be also illegal. I a US citizen. I tried to do all the paperwork on my own. Forget it. It was one point after another as soon as I thought I had every document INS asked for the said they needed about 30 other forms, and INS doesn't even like to address to you if your not an attorney. I finally found an attorney who did everything let us pay him in payments and pretty much help my husband become a resident soon to be Citizen. Our daughter was 2 when we started she is now 12.
