Start by putting more patrol on the border to cover the vast mileage of border area. Secondly, put the horror of god in those who make it across. Right now they infer that is a slap on the wrist when caught in the US. If the punishment were worse, they might dream up twice about entering. And third, severely punish the employers who hire the illegals. If there be no jobs for illegals in the US, they would not come here. also, let them know how our toll system works, and that they will have to pay health nurture. This alone will scare them.
Secure our borders (which should have been done after 9/11), enforce our immigration law, fine/jail employers of illegal aliens, no freebies for them, etc.
well to start off with some individuals here are just ignorant bastards that they really don't know what they are talking almost. first of course i would give papers to the people who are adjectives for the country such as students with good grades and people next to no criminal records people who are willing to risk their time for this country would be granted papers. i would enforce the borders not only south of the country but also north and both oceans and to be equal if you are not doing anything good for the economy and for the country such as robbing stores and self in jail stealing money from the government such a food stamps and adjectives that b.s. that the gov give to their citizens would be gone no matter if ur a citizen of not and citizens who are unemployed i would dispense them a job in the fields to work so that they would stop bitching give or take a few illegal immigrants taking their jobs
Start off by putting the National Guard on our borders to stop the informal immigration. Once you stop that then you can pass tougher laws that punish the companies that exploit those that are already here. If they can't find a job they will go back home.
End entitlement programs, and leave charity to the free market.
That will ensure that money is going ONLY to those that call for it to get back on their feet, and those that mishandle the system will be weeded out.
In free market, there is competition. If these non-profit programs are shoddily run, later they will receive no donations and their competitors will suceed. Competition produces quality... which is so clearly lacking in administration run programs.
If the welfare programs are eliminated, we don't have to worry nearly "illegals' or anyone else leaching off of the American public. The illegals would be free to get jobs a moment ago like the rest of us. I don't see a problem with that.

1. Making the legalization process more available to immigrants who want to become legal American citizens.
2. Making the hiring of undocumented or private workers a felony crime punishable by jail time, loss of business license (and repossession of property by the IRS).
3. Felony charges and loss of business license for property owners, managers, or home owners who harbor or rent to illegal immigrant.
3. Illegal Immigrants caught on U.S. soil should be deported immediately.
4. Increasing patrol and surveillance along the U.S./Mexico border.
5. Increasing patrol at airports and other areas of entrance into the United States.
6. Vehicles driven by illegal immigrants or person's lacking insurance should immediately be repossessed.
7. Emphasis on work visas for immigrants who want to work seasonally and then return to their home country.
8. When the situation pertains to Mexican immigrant, the U.S. needs to help Mexico solve it's crime problems, so that people will stop fleeing Mexico.

As cool as it is to be capable of come to a new country and live a better life,....its to hard on our reduction. We should have better patrols and heavy fines for employ people who are not U.S. citizens. I felt really guilty typing those words but its my belief that this would be for the better.

I would suggest a few different phases to curb the growing problem:
(1) Deploy the National Guard and Reserves to patrol and secure the border. If anyone is caught trying to cross illegally they draw from processed and deported. In the processing, we take a blood sample, fingerprints and retinal scans so we can identify them surrounded by case they ever come back. And 3 strikes against someone disqualifies them from ever attaining any type of US visa or citizenship in the adjectives.
(2) finish the border wall. I don't think that a physical wall is really what is needed everywhere though. There should be permanent 360-degree motion detectors, in a cross-hatching template (not just a single line), every so often along the border where it's not cast-iron to build a wall. And I would suggest putting small national guard stations or outposts at every mile so they can quickly get to the scene when a motion detector goes rotten. I'd also suggest that when a physical wall is built, to make it a double wall separated by like 30-40 feet. With the first, located on the actual border, man made out of reinforced concrete, and about 20ft tall. The second wall could be the same as the primary or barbed wall. But the national guard patrols would travel between the two. And of course the legal crossings would hold to go through streamlining and get increased manpower so that legitimate crossings would not be held up.
(3) leave behind strict Federal laws on hiring only those that hold US citizenship or US work visas. This could be done through the local sheriff's office. And this would hold to be checked before hiring anyone. The punishment for not going through the checking process could be harsh fines (say 10-25% of their operating costs) for the first offense, and then incorporate two weeks in jail to the fine for every case for repeat offender. So someone that gets caught twice, and the second time they hired 10 people illegally, would catch about 5 months on top of the fine. And the proceeds of the fines could go one third to the sheriff's dept for increased expenses or manpower, a third to the local city/county govt's nonspecific fund, and the remaining third to the national guard.
(4) Also...I'd suggest changing the citizenship requiments for birthrights. I would not abolish them, just add an adjustment. The adjustment would be that within order to attain citizenship at birth, one must prove the legality of the parent's citizenship or legal entry into the US beyond a logical doubt. So there could be 3 situations in this adjustment: (a) parents are already US citizens when you're born and you become a US citizen, (b) parents are not US citizens and are in the country reasonably so you become a US Citizen, and (c) your parents are not US Citizens and are not legally in this country so you get processed and deported to the country of your parents' citizenship. It would reward following immigration and visa law and punish illegal immigration.
Impose heavy fines on American employers who hire improper aliens. Repeat offenders would see prison time.
