No, marrying an illegal alien is neither a felony nor a misdeanor, as much as some citizens would obviously like it to be so. If it were, you wouldn't be capable of do it, because you wouldn't be able to get a license.

As an American, not only will you be capable of file a petition for her, but she should be able to become legal herself, probably lacking leaving the US. Obviously, if you've been married for 7 years, there won't be much query about your relationship. The only real give somebody the third degree will be whether or not she's subject to the 212e, 2 year home residency requirement. If so, you'll need to apply for a special waiver for that. But again, if marrying someone out of status in the US be illegal, you wouldn't be able to do this legally, any.
Marrying an illegal alien could derail the citizenship process. The illegal alien would have to return to his/her own country while a spousal visa is applied for. Applying for a visa for an unsanctioned alien exposes the illegal status, and he/she would be deported and barred from re-entry for 10 years. If charged with aiding and abet an illegal alien, you get deported and barred, too. Do not marry an undemocratic alien unless you both plan to live in your home country for the rest of your lives. A person's marital status has no deportment on one's naturalization, regardless of who they marry.
Marriage has nothing to do with a person's status. The criminal will still be subject deportation at any time
