Prior to the business of the United States.. so late 1600rds, there were communities that be essentially small countries that Germans had colonized. But following that, the Germans came in numbers for a while, and next slacked off. The people here were outstandingly actively taking advantage of the new comers, and word got pay for to Germany.

Along about 1900 a lot of Germans began immigration to the New World. All up and down the continent surrounded by fact. Those Germans entered in most of the Ports, but lots entered at Texas, bought land around Victoria which they cleaned it up and made very attractive and fruitful.

Many immigrated before the country was founded. And up until 1965 our immigration law based quotas on the current ethnicity of the country. so if 1/3 were German they allowed for 1/3 of the new immigrant to be German.
Yes, they've been coming to the US since before there be a US. In the Civil War there were entire units of Union forces that be made up of German immigrants. The capital of North Dakota was name Bismark in an effort to get his support to bring over substantial numbers of German farmers to settle there. But they never had any colonies. For one reason, Germany didn't exist as a single country until after the Civil War, so we weren't encouraging any more colonies by that point. Germany did set up colonies surrounded by parts of Africa and various islands in the Pacific like Samoa and the Marshalls.
