NAFTA, though the economic correlation dates back to the 19th century. We get lots of agricultural produce from Mexico and many of the high-tech computer industries that are headquarted in the US have assembly plants and factory in Mexico.

Trade, geography (we share the Rio Grande river), religion (they tend to be Catholic, similar to most of the religions in the United States), they have strong family values, and we both own corruption in government!
