Most people say it was the past due 1800s and early 1900s during the industrial revolution when people flocked to the US for a chance to brand it. Thats because almost all legal citizens can trace at least one branch of their relatives tree to these immigrants. 100 years from now, Americans, most of them with some Latin blood contained by them, will look back on today as the second golden age of immigration.

Oh, and as a percentage of population, immigration was much superior during the late 1800s and early 1900s than today. At times it was running nearly twice the rate. And all the incumbant British and Northern European Americans were up in arms more or less all the dirty lazy criminal Italians and Irish that were flooding surrounded by. "They will never assimilate" "It will lead to two Americas" "They are taking over our country" "They are stealing our jobs" were common refrain back then too.
