Immigration advocate fees by the hour?
My fiance and I just got married and have to swarm in a few applications (AOS, Advance Parole, etc). We were wondering whether instead of hiring a lawyer to do this for us, we could do it ourselves instead and consequently go see a lawyer for a few hours in demand for him to check that everything has been compiled properly (there are no mistakes, etc).
Do you think this would be possible and, if so, how much do you estimate would be the fees be in NYC?

usually done by set fees and they are EXPENSIVE! you can do it yourself if you know what you are doing
Are you a citizen? or your wife? whatever. this is not intricate at all. just go on the immigration network site, get the form, and fill it out. get money decree and mail it. the questions are mostly dates and name, not some legal terms. just write what it is and you will be ok. i can never infer how any lawyer knows your personal information better than you are.
immigration lawyers are needed contained by the cases when things are not easy. not when you need to fill I 485 out, trust me.

If you want low cost legal help try your local Catholic Social Services. they are very flawless and charge according to income. You don't have to be catholic to use them.
All a lawyer does is look over the forms and you still need to provide adjectives the correct documents. If your case is not complicated you can probably do it yourself but if there may be complications it's best to use a lawyer. An initial consultation will assistance you decide this. I would say go to Catholic Social Services for this as they won't be trying to provide you their services.
