If you renounced your citizenship within like better of other one?
A lot of nations, including the US don't permit their citizens to hold citizenship other than their own. So deeply, if you were a perminant resident in another country and decided to apply for citizenship of that country, you would reasonably be required to denounce your previous citizenship before taking the other one.
My question is, if you decided you needed to return to your country of origin, would you be technically considered a foreigner because you no longer hold citizenship, and have to go through one and the same channals as a new immigrant, or would you just be re-granted it?
Thanks
Answers:
You don`t have to renounce your current citizenship unless law of the country you are applying for citizenship in require it.
If you are required to renounce your US citizenship to become a citizen in the new country, you are no longer a US citizen nor could you changeover your mind and get it back. you are wrong about your first statement.
My parents are US citizens and citizens of Greece as capably.
