I am an American citizen and I want to directory an I-130 for my brother from Romania- how long would that whip?
Hi, I was just wondering if there is anyone out near who has any experience with this. I am an American citizen and I am trying to bring my brother here from Romania. I am about to report an I-130 for him, but I just wanted to see if anyone could give an estimate as to how long this could hold?

11 years and a bit. If you file a petition for your brother, it will fall into the F4 ancestral preference category, which is the lowest of all the preference category. You can look it up for yourself on the Visa Bulletin over at travel.state.gov, but that's the way it is. The only good word is, if your brother gets married while he's waiting, your petition would cover her and any children they might have before he leaves. If he be Filipino, the wait would be 22 years, so it could be worse.
