JEFFERSON CITY -- Hundreds of union member filled the Capitol's south lawn today to urge lawmakers to punish employer who hire illegal immigrants.
Guy Ott, with a St. Louis-based operating engineers league, said that businesses should have to prove their workers are legally in the United States.
The House and Senate own each passed their own versions of legislation cracking down on illegal immigration. But at hand has been disagreement about whether employer should have to use the federal E-Verify database to check their workers' immigration status.
Democratic lawmakers and Attorney General Jay Nixon spoke at Tuesday's rally. Nixon, who is running for governor, pledged to represent organized labor's interests, including on evil immigration.

all three main presidential candidates are for a legalization which not individual suggest but proves than the Americans see the legalization of the undocumented as a need .
now will all these three together will those few hold any to say !? well they may have something to read out but when those who fight for the country , those who work in the country and those who elect our government stand bringing up the rear the same goal what the few have to read out matters little not matter how loud they may be .
If any union wants to stop illegal immigration afterwards they must eradicate the reason(s) that immigrants illegally migrate.
If the unions know how to and create ample jobs so that individuals don’t need to or want to migrate to this or any other country and if they know how to fix the economy of Mexico or any other country later that would be a great accomplishment on their part.
But then I would ask
WHY DON’T THEY CREATE MORE JOBS HERE AND FIX THIIS ECONOMY?
The AFL-CIO is leading the charge for amnesty. They'll not lift a finger before, or after, the see.
Illegal immigration is a necessity for the U.S. I mean why have nothing ever been done about it? (DUH !) i don't muse USA will ever stop immigration, immigration helps the economy a lot.
I think the union are the reason the gov doen't do nothing about risky immigration. They were becoming pretty powerful at one time. Remember Hoffa? I read about him and I think he's buried lower than the Whitehouse lawn. Most unions are speaking out already, i know the ironworkers unions are! and i hope adjectives unions put the pressure on thick. report and deport!!
In my opinion, those general public who protest against immigration, are the ones who make Americans seem arrogant, selfish and racist to the eyes of the world. Mon ami, remember that those inhabitants are also humans, and they have the right to aspire for the same things you do: a good duration quality, a good paid chore and freedom.
What makes you think you are better than any of those immigrants you speak of ? They enjoy the same human dignity that you do; hence, they are free to move wherever they want and to aspire for the same rights you enjoy. If that is to move to the USA legaly or illegaly they are in their right.
