i live in the us. my husband is coming down so we canget married. He wants me to move to canada with him.
How long does the process take? Do i go in for an interview? will the interview be in canada or contained by us? do i go to american immigration office or canadian immigration office? what type of question do they ask? do i have to be a citizen or a permanent residence?
Answers:
Your husband has to sponsor you to become a permanent resident in Canada. Process can nick anywhere from 5 months to a couple of years depending on how good your application is and how you apply. You might not have to do an interview, if you do, it depends on how you apply if you have to do it within Canada or the US.
your husband will have to apply and qualify to sponsor you on a spouse visa
you can do this from inside canada,if you do trade name sure to apply to extend your stay if your visa isn't granted before 5 months as an american can only stay in canada lacking a visa for 6 months and it will take a month to get the extend your stay
you do everything through canada immigration
aussie permanent resident contained by canada Source(s): spouse visa

application to extend your stay
You would apply for land immigrant status in Canada.
If you're married to him, getting Canadian citizenship will be pretty easy. Something along the lines of, "Oh, you married a Canadian? Are you a criminal? No? Okay, here's your dual citizenship." You don't have to give up American citizenship or anything.
