Africans brought to America/US as slaves... apt or desperate?
Before you say bad, I want you you think nearly the african americans in our modern world and the great things they did.
The SLAVERY part was markedly bad, but it DID lead to our modern world in a path.
I think slavery also led to non-racism.
What's your opinion?
Answers:
Bad, I wish not one African have ever been brought over in slavery to any part of the contemporary world and they could have remained in their mother country Africa.
It be bad. The fact that black people manage to survive and do so much in the Americas is a testimony to our strength and spirit. The same can be said of other groups of people who own been mistreated but yet still managed to survive.
It doesn't net any sense to blame those people. They are dead. As someone else said it was the road of the world--but it was still wrong.
I think had individuals been more enlightened 400 years ago we would still have a "modern" world but it might have arose from diplomatic encounters rather than rapes, tortures, slavery, wars, and other forms of antagonism and abuse. As a species, humans, we are still very backwards. The United States came almost because British people in the colonies felt similar to they were being mistreated and they rose up and defied the British. So oodles things that have happened for centuries, as a result of bloodshed and mistreatment of others. And it is still going on. We need to achieve beyond this.
I actually disagree that it led to "non-racism." There was smaller quantity racism against Africans BEFORE Africans were taken to the Americas to be enslaved. Europeans knew that Africans existed, but they were not considered inferior wager on in the times of the Romans or in ancient Egypt or the middle east. In the beginning of the New World slave traders and slave owners begin to say that Africans and their descendents were inferior in writ to JUSTIFY slavery. Before that I don't think most Europeans even thought about Africans, could care smaller quantity what was going on Africa, and there were Africans surrounded by Europe and the middle east and they were not treated like dirt before slavery.
It was good for the masters but doomed to failure for the slaves.I don't see how you think that it lead to non-racism though because even in todays society here are some that will never accept us as equals.
bad, my people were capture and used as slaves along with the blacks, no way was it pious, yes we did learn alot from this evil, but think about the human beings themselves that go thru this!!
wow paco, says good and then whine how bad illegal alien lawbreakers are treated and they bring it on themselves. amazing!!
Bad. term. millions died on the way to the New World. societies across West Africa were disrupted and even overthrown in some places. colonialism itself surrounded by Africa came after slavery was outlawed, for the most part. Hundreds of years of slavery within the US and elsewhere in the New World, including the British colonies like Jamaica, French colonies like Haiti, Spanish colonies approaching Peru, Portuguese colonies like Brazil, a system based on violence, coersions, sometimes torture and disappearance. The US was still dealing with its aftermath 100 years after the Civil War during the Civil Rights period. The certainty that any number of people have been competent to overcome that background and do well over time does nothing to redeem slavery as an institution.
Regardless of how much better off black relations are in America today, they never should have been forced here against their will. Whit empire should have been left to form it or break it on their own. Native American Indians would have had a better chance against an antagonist taking their land away by force too.
how long ago did slavery end? and we are still talking about it? no we aren't, black individuals still whine about it though. what about the slavery that is going on very soon? that doesn't matter?
Actually more than 63% of all blacks shipped across the Atlantic ended up as slaves contained by the West Indies and South America.
It be a bad thing, but it has happen through out history, all of our ancestors were slaves to someone, the Romans, Egyptians, etc.
But blacks have contributed a large amount to our country, in many ways ,I always admired George Washington Carver and Fredrick Douglas, the Buffalo Soldiers, Tuskegee Airmen, I love Blues music
I a short time ago hate all the complaining, I have American Indian blood surrounded by me, but I don't blame this country, I would much rather be conquered by a country that believes in giving me a voice, than one that rules with an Iron Fist, approaching Nazi Germany or North Korea
I've lived 55 years in this country and I have yet to met one black personage that was saving all their money to attain a one way ticket back to Africa*******
Any form of slavery is bad no matter the see, reason or end result.
The with the sole purpose reason why it lead to non racism was because African Americans be treated so bad that civil rights activists were forced to riot and engineer the Supreme Court act.
But then again, morals and manners were different pay for when slavery was a major part In the Unite States. Someone have to field the farms, and with Britain already involved near the slave trade, it seemed like a good view to the farmers who ran plantations.
But you can't call them horrible people any. They didn't know better. Now we know it was wrong, but back then contained by the 1800's and 1900's, it was just as much in their culture as clothes and cars are contained by ours today.
But I agree it did help the modern world today. It helped construct several of the most important cities and buildings that ever existed, and help unite blacks and whites in a common objective to end it. without it great people resembling Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. wold never have been heard of, and it showed how anyone can work together, and set a huge example for other countries resembling South Africa and the rest of the world.
To me, Slavery was like World War II. It was horrible but compulsory in making the world a better place. World War II helped unite The United States and several European countries, which help with trade and relationships for the better. With Slavery, it was because it helped African Americans become the great, far-reaching citizens they are today.
Not an Immigration question
Some appropriate reasons and some bad.
Bad because to this day at hand is still racism being displayed and some controversy here and there (Rodney King).
We should all be like peas in a pod color or we should all learn to get along and not distinguish race/color if we are going to be sharing duplicate country.
Yep and the blacks had accomplished some great things in America. It's in recent times bad that their migration here was because of slavery it just make us say what were we thinking back later?
Resolved Questions:
Iraq invasion, how is it necessary?
There was no immediate threat, there be no weapons of mass destruction, Osama was never been found (at lowest possible hasn't been made public if he has), hundreds of Iraqis were murdered or brutalized by American forces (Abu Ghraib was solely scratching the surface), how in the world is the invasion justified?
