How long can I stay contained by the US after H1b visa expire?

My H1b visa is going to expire on July 10, 2008. I am planning to pack and leave the US on July 31, 2008. Will it be okay? or Should I leave the country right away?

Never, never, never overstay your visa!!

You should be out of the country as soon as July 9th or earlier. You will blow any chances of re-enetering the country should you want to come back.
NOT okay! You must go off before it expires, so plan on getting out of here by the 9th. If you overstay your visa, it is recorded and you can kiss any chance of ever re-visiting the US bye-bye. You be fine, you might find it intricate to get new visa!!

An overstay of 180 days to 12months is an automatic 3 year ban.
An overstay of more than a year is an automatic 10 year make illegal.
Take a look at your I-94 card to see when your authorized stay expires. Normally, H1b visa holders can stay in the US for an addtional 10 days after the visa expires, or longer if your from a country where on earth the reciprocity period for H1b visas is limited. 3 weeks though is a bit too long. While remaining in the US for 3 weeks out of status doesn't automatically clear you ineligible to return, it could still complicate your ability to get a B1/B2 visa at a later point.
I'd evacuate July 9, anything past the expiration will make you illegal and expelled for possibly 10 years. do not over stay.that info is in the computers.leave!
