A citizen of Canada near proof of Canadian citizenship can always return to Canada. The Canadian Immigration authorities at the border will not refuse admission to a citizen of their own country.
They are with the sole purpose concerned with aliens attempting to enter Canada. Your documents are 100% acceptable.
There are over 300 countries on the planet. Canadian citizens are entitled by law to enter merely one country without being subject to exclusion laws, and that's Canada.
I'm other hearing different things, which means they change their minds after a while. I estimate you would be better off getting one, just in casing. If you don't wanna get the full passport, I'm sure you can get a temp one, but you need a right reason to be accepted for one.
Nothing can be INVALID, though. So, get a valid ID or you would probably enjoy some problems.
If you are flying, yes, you must have valid passport.
If you are driving, your Canadian Birth Certificate would be enough.
Check with Embassy or Consulate of Canada.

You're Canadian so even next to a invalid license, they should let you in with no problem. If you want to budge to the US again though, I can guarantee that you will have problem. The US Border sees every time you cross and if they see that you crossed into the US and then crossed pay for into Canada YEARS later, you will be red flagged because that's illegal. Canadian can only VISIT for no longer than 6 months.
I think that should be enough to go final. Getting into Canada isn't hard, it's coming back to the USA that can be tough without paperwork. If you can prove that your Canadian, it should be OK. If they come up with you are American, then they want to make sure that you have satisfactory money to take care of yourself.
It ought to be ok. You may have to answer why you stayed so long (there may be illegal immegration issues) but the Canadians ought to surf you right on in.
i'm pretty sure you don't need a passport to go into canada if you own that stuff
but i haven't gone to canada in two years
Yes you do or they wont let you go cross..
That's all you need. Contact Canadian consulate surrounded by you city if you want to apply for a passport.
To get here (by land), that's all you'll need.
To get wager on is a different story, are you a permanent US resident card (greencard) holder? If, so that's all you'll need to achieve back.
Are you in the US illegally (meaning you overstayed)? If so, you probably won't be coming wager on, so don't forget anything on your way home. LOL
Yes, I believe the restrictions changed in Feb. of this year.
If you jump by land, no passport.... you can get into canada with a birth-certificate r valid drivers license.. In Jun 1-2009 the Us will require a Passport if you progress by land (already required if u take a plane).. So U need to achieve there before then.. enjoy a good trip.
Do I need a passport to travel to Mexico and Canada?
The answer is yes if traveling by air: you want a passport to return to the United States. The answer is no if crossing borders by land or sea. And then it get whacky.
Recommendations made by the Department of Homeland Security's Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative caused passport rules to change in 2007: travelers presently need passports if returning to the US by air from Canada and Mexico. DHS will be requiring passports from US citizens crossing Mexican and Canadian borders by land or marine as of June 1, 2009, and will give 60 days notice before that requirement go into effect. One of three things will happen before a legislated mandatory date of June 1, 2009 (issued by Congress in command to allow the Department of Homeland Security to make the change effectively and smoothly) arrives: Source(s): http://studenttravel.around.com/od/uspass...
