How come most immigrant are afraid that their children would become "too american"?
I never understood it. Why come here if you dont want your kids to be asimilated in american culture?

Answers:
That is not the case with most immigrants. They want their children to fit contained by and be accepted. That is especially the case if they do not live in a community next to similar immigrants.
But people from everywhere are proud of their own language and culture. They would approaching this passed on, just as most of us could not imagine our descents not celebrating Thanksgiving, for example.
Take a look at the hatred and spite against other people in the medium and on such boards as these.
Look at the racial aspects of politics, even attacks on your own elected officials.
Look at the "me first" culture in the US.

many immigrants do assimilate to some of the American culture but want to keep some of their behind the times cultures also. This is fine. Illegals aliens do not want to assimilate in no way, shape or form. Many bring in customs not permitted in the U.S. they think it is okay because this is their custom. They have no respect for any law or customs of our country. Good example is "cock fighting" This brutal disgusting sport is big in mexico and other hispanic countries. It is banned here. Stop immigration, illegal and legal, for awhile until people can appreciate it again. And fashion new laws about assimilation. Demographics are EVERYTHING for a strong country. Our leaders are destroying our Western world.

When I be in HS, 30 years ago, I had friends whose parents were from Europe (Poland, Russia mostly) and they needed their kids to keep their old world values. They thought American kids had no discipline and no respect for their elder.
