Sign a contract since green card?

Hello
I got married 1 month ago. I'm in US with a tourist visa. I come here for some Interviews for my medical residency. But now that I got married I found that If I leave the country and I try to return I would be excluded to come in. So I'm starting my application for Green card.
I will get the results of my interviews next pageant and at that moment I have to sign a contract with the hospital. The hospital is sponsoring H1B and J1 visas. But a lawyer told me that if I start my application for my green card I will not be allow to apply for an H1B or J1.
The attorney also told me that I can get a work permit in roughly 3 months is that true? and I want to know if is possible sign a contract only with a work permit or I will stipulation my Green card?
The contract must be sign by march but the job star on June.
Is possible sign the contract without a Green card?

Thanks

When you apply I-485, you are file I-765 Employment Authorization Document. Once I-765 is approved, within 90 days you get Receipt Notice of application, you will carry work permit EAD Card.

You can tell the hospital you have EAD base on your green card application and your green card will be approved soon, hopefully, then they can make decision whether or not to bring EAD to sign the contract.
I don't know how to answer your contract question, but can answer your work permit questions.

When you file the I-485 (for the greencard), trade name sure you file an I-765 (work permit, aka EAD) together it. There's no extra charge if filed together. The cost is $1010. The work charter is supposed to be approved within 90 days, but is usually approved faster (60-70). With the work permit you can get a social wellbeing card to allow you to work.
Yes, the legal representative is correct. If you have applied for a green card, you need to fill out a i-751 to apply for an EAD. you will draw from it in about four months. You need to enjoy the EAD in place on your first day of work, you can sign a contract before you procure it.
Do NOT accept a position uner a J-1 visa. If you do, you will have to return to your country of origin for 2 years after finishing residency even though you are married to a US citizen.
