There is no way your BF has never applied for a visa yet have a SS#, not even one not for employment purposes. He must have had a visa already that expired. They do NOT give you a SS# (even for not employing) freshly because you travelled to the US with your passport. If he has a real SS# he have already had a visa and it has expired. You need to find out how long ago it expired and see afterwards how long he has been here illegally.

Just a little aside to you. I imagine your "boyfriend" is lying to you. It's impossible to apply for a US visa while illegally residing in the US.
