Assuming that my immigrant visa for canada is approved, when should i resign from philippines, at once? ?
Sources said that there's a strong possibility that i would be granted an immigrant visa to canada sometime next year. My problem is i still have so many things to attend to which am sure cannot be finished contained by 2 years (like waiting for my kids to graduate college, etc.). a friend told me that once visa is ok, i should travel to canada within 10 months otherwise my visa will be cancelled forever, is this true? what should i do given the circumstances? pls help!

you should not enjoy applied for the visa until you were ready to move, canada will not wait for you to agree on.........someone else is waiting for a visa
Once the visa is approved you have a limited amount of time to use it. I don't know around Canada, but the United States gives you 6 months to use the visa after its been issued.
If you don't want to be a Canadian you should stay in the Philippines.
When they send you the visa, it will communicate you the time limit you have to use it. It is often 1 year from the time you have your medical. You can go to Canada, "land" as an immigrant, stay long enough to get your PR card (4-6 weeks) and after go back to the Philippines. If you have friends or people in Canada whose address you can use to get your PR card, you don't even have to stay that long, they can messages it to you.
As a PR of Canada, you only have to live there for 2 years contained by any 5 year period so after you activate your visa, you can go wager on to the Philippines for up to 3 years without losing it.
