lb53 Billion spent on 3% of the EU population, isn't it time we stopped dairy farm substaties ?

Why do the hard working TAX payer have to substaties rich land owners. If farmers cant trade name money then sell the farm to someone who can. STOP ALL FARM SUBSTATIES.

what we actually involve to do is to leave the common market, so we do not own to (as we do right now) import fruit and veg.

Why do we not see british tomatoes in asdas in the summer, british straw berries, british apples, veg etc.

What is wrong near eating what ever is in season at the time.

why do we see polish chicken etc etc etc with amazingly expensive British food stuffs.

we need to not buy the foreign meat, veg and fruit and buy british, so that out farmers and fishermen etc get a decent price for their food.

do you even realise how much of our own produce is thrown away or ploughed rear into the soil due to the foreign stuff being brought in.

We need to grow more of our own food and simply import what we cannot grow our self's.

so no i do not think the farmers have it unforced with huge pay outs, its not the case.

If the farmers be allowed to grow what the wished and what was needed instead of being constrained and told what to do by europe perhaps we would not need to pay out so much.
I kind of agree with what you are saying here, so long as supermarkets are made to pay packet a fair rate for the goods they purchase from farmers. Most supermarkets make farmers take on the cost of their 'promtional activities' safe in the knowledge that if your local u.k cultivator refuses to sell their crop at half price so they can rotten buy one get one free, they are going to be stuck with it and make no money at adjectives. At the end of the day we all benefit from lower food prices so it could be argued that, as a result morally, the taxpayer SHOULD indeed be responsible for ensure farmers can maintain a standard of living.

In addition, Farm subsidies are there to compensate the cultivator for adhering to regulations which directly contribute to making his business unprofitable - for example maintaining hedgerows and woodland on their property for wildlife, instead of ripping them out to grow crops; using more ecologically friendly, but expensive, fertilisers and pest control; adhering to livestock welfare standards etc etc etc. If we remove these subsidies later we have to accept that farming will become more profit focussed and near will be an environmental impact as a direct result of that.
At the end of the day farm subsidies move about to, principally, the French and it was our rebate which was supposed to redress the balance of that. As I'm sure you know, obedient old Tony Blair gave that up.
I agree next to you and their electricity subsidies should also be stopped along with their road tax concessions. I live in a rural nouns and I have yet to meet a poor cultivator.
I'm from the US and I'm against subsidies philosophically. However, valid world politics enters into it. You have subsidies over there because of famine after WWII, did you know that? Do you want to be dependent on other parts of the world for your food? What political consequences does that own?

Otherwise, I'd be against all subsidies, but that one gives me pause.
be careful what you longing for... the Roman empire's demise was due in part to inhabitants abandoning the farms.
In the US, the subsidies also fund the USDA food stamp program. Many do not realize that more than half of the US farm bill funds this and other food provision programs.
All subsidies should be stopped, if in that is no call for a service or goods then we should not own to subsidise others to produce it, mostly the wealthy have the resources to corall these gifts from us, and the little farmer or factory does not enjoy the skills available to do anything to even find them often.

In America "ethanol" rules, say that all vehicle fuels are to contain 10% of renewable fuels within a few years, 90% of subsidies go to the top 5% of landowners The largest farms grow ethanol producing vegetable matter for this purpose, not surpriingly these farms are ALL owned by the major oil companies of America, but worst of adjectives, like the waste fumes from the so called catalyst exhausts ( specifically the smell when they fail, of rotten eggs , "Hydrogen sulphide", banned in the form of stink bombs, because of it's toxicity ), surrounded by this country, and America and Canada and everywhere in the world, it is a cancer producing chemical ( and listed as such, on the side of cigarette packets as outstandingly dangerous), and we subsidise these oil companies to kill us, and our children, at the expense of producing healthy food at a do price?.

Worst of all is the fact that the French employ 40% of it's population within agriculture at an enormous and heavily subsidised rate from E.U. taxpayers, it should all stop especially when it leads to food mountains that own to be destroyed, all subsidies distort market economics but some are political and not economic within their intent, as with the French, they are barely touched because the countries facing economic meltdown provide their wages, right presently, including the rights for many to retire at 55 and on 90% of their last years works wages, indexed, for the rest of their lives and some even earlier at 45 for positive classes of political or civil services or teachers, what a jolly time we will have working to repay for them.
Right on - who needs to chomp through anyway...
