Do you enjoy to reapply for citizenship if you are an immigrant of 30+ years and hold adjectives your IDs stolen?
How can someone who is an immigrant of 30+ years prove they are a citizen w/o paying $$$ when all their identification is stolen. My mother-in-laws purse was stolen a couple of weeks ago. She owns her home, have a drivers license, Social Security card and something called a resident card. Well after the theft she tried to get adjectives of those replaced. The dept of transportation says she needs the SS card before she can take her license replaced. So she goes to get her SS card and they say she wishes identification proving she is who she is. So she goes to the dept. formerly known as INS beside my husband to prove she is his mother and gave birth to him in the U.S. and had be a resident prior to his birth. They say she has to go through the application process adjectives over again which will cost her about $400. Does this sound correct? Is there any other option she may have?

She is a citizen with a Resident Card and that information is on a database somewhere.
For a drivers license, what you requirement is any picture ID showing whom you are, a letter or bill showing proof of address that you're the same person and consent to them know your drivers license was stolen and you should get a new one.
Now, when she get the drivers license, she goes to the state office of "INS" or calls them and asks in the region of getting a replacement Resident Card as her previous one was stolen and believe me, they have her information - tell them to look! She have her drivers license and date of birth and full name and she may need her birth certificate and I hope you own that.
After she gets her Resident Card replaced, then she can go procure her social security card replaced having to fill out some forms.
The lone thing she needs to carry around beside her is her drivers license, everything else STAYS at home.
No. They should have her on file. Didn't she get a Certificate of Citizenship once she be sworn in? Use that as her proof.
she is either a citizen or she is a legal ongoing resident, she can not be both.......... when her permanent resident card was issued it states VERY clearly to retain the piece of paper as you will inevitability this to send it back in at some point. this would correlation to all her files with immigration.
if she is a citizen then she would hold a passport / some other form of certificate that shows she took the test.........
