Career as an Immigration Services Officer?

I have been offered a position as an Immigration Services Officer and I can't decide if I want to adopt and I need help. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree surrounded by something totally unrelated and I like it but I am tempted to take this opportunity because I need the money now; besides, I might like this more. What appealed to me roughly speaking the ISO job is the chance to work with society from all over the world and utilize my foreign language skills while helping deserving people start a unmarked life. Also, I liked working as a federal employee surrounded by the past (benefits, family-friendly).

What are the necessary skills of an ISO? Do they do a lot of writing? What are the pros/cons? From what I enjoy read, almost all ISOs seem happy beside their job. Why? Thank you so much!
