Is it wrong to protect the heritage and culture of a country?

Don't U.S. citizens have the right and obligation to preserve their heritage, culture, language, form care and educational institutions or should we sacrifice them in demand to improve the lives of immigrants who choose to jump ahead of the row?

here is where on earth i feel immigrants have the upper appendage, I do agree with you, we have the right and obligation (im not sure if thats the wording i would use but i carry your point) keeping that in mind our culture IS based on immigrants, so by definition our culture will renovate and form around immigrants past or present.

should we sacrifice them? some aspects of our culture do fade away near time, for instance back in the day family would listen to the radio every sunday to hear novels and stories now thats all gone and have evolved into some other activity. as our culture evolves with or without immigration some aspects of it will dissappear and others will show according to what we find most appropiate to do.

This however have nothing to do with legal or iffy immigration the cultural impact goes beyond that. since Legal immigration can and does affect our culture just as much as illegal immigration.
The US and the UK and many other countries make an industry out of sentimentalising the past. Practices and traditions stumble out of use because times change. This is little to do with immigration. The dire working conditions in mines and factory were a disgrace in so-called civilised countries; immigrants worked near, too, remember.
If Americans,or any other nationals,don't care enough roughly their "heritage" to preserve it then it should be allowed to wither away. Look to the present and the future, I say.

What exactly are you chitchat about. Realistic immigration reform is the only sensible approach to handling the problem.

Preserving our heritage and culture be the same argument that nativists used in the 19th century in object to Irish and German immigration. They even formed political parties such as the Know Nothings, e.g. the American Party, to specifically combat the perceived menace. The objects of bigotry may change but the mindset remains the same. The reality that you mention preserving the language and culture means that you are not just referring to unfair immigrants.
I'm with you, but i'm going to play devil's advocate a second. wouldn't this scrounging that we can just go out and enslave any minority we see and put them to work for us? after adjectives, that is a huge part of our heritage.

Search nationalism and WWI and WWII and see what happens when people carry riled up about culture and heritage durring times of economic recession and then start blaming immigrant and minorities.

whats the real issue here? im currently without a job and was driving to my parents house in suburbia to say hello. adjectives the men doing the landscaping for the housing development were latino. but who am i to enunciate they are here leglly or not, you cant look at someone and tell. Besides its the american business owners who continue to hire these people. be kinda pissing in our own kitchen.

This is the preamble to the US constitution. You wont find it on the statue at Ellis Island. Its an introduction to the rules and principles that Amercans must follow and uphold for this country to succeed. Nowhere on there does it say cater to the whims of latino nation that do nothing about a fleeing population.

Many Americans were born in the US. They are native born Americans. I am a original born American. You can hate all you want, but its true. Its sad that these answerers above me own no concept of country, borders, or logic.
No it isn't, which heritage and vocalizations are you referring to, every "culture" would have a different answer as to what we are preserving. Maybe since they are Americans they believe you should conform to their rules.
Which heritage and culture? As anyone can tell you, America is prearranged as the "Great Melting Pot." They even teach us this in elementary school. So, the heritage and culture we would be protecting would be ALL heritage and cultures.

Did you know that even the NAEYC take the position to encourage the use of a child's primary language and that early childhood professionals hold the responsibility to help enhance their culture/ roots? Otherwise, family (and eventually community) ties begin to unravel as the child feel like a lost outsider. Furthermore, the other students are taught acceptance and appreciation of that child's culture. All this qualified from infancy in any accredited preschool.

Ever noticed, too, how children are with ease accepting, loving and forgiving? I guess a few of the adults on YA could learn a thing or two from these small tykes.

What heritage and culture? The U.S. has none. EVERYONE here is an immigrant of some sort and brought that individual culture into this country. Only Native Americans can say they are protecting their culture...everyone else should keep their mouths shut.

NO! and that's why it's not wrong for immigrants to be proud of their cultures while living in America. It's great the we can express our pride this approach...isn't it? No its not wrong, but you have to remember the US was founded on diversity. Our nation come together from many other cultures and nations and still is the land of opportunity for general public across the world.

Protecting things like healthcare and education is different because illegal aliens aren't paying into them as the rest of us are, but talking and culture here is not important here. We are a melting pot of cultures and language. I don't see what the issue beside English is, other countries have more than 1 official language.
