The problem you enjoy is that hardworking citizens, when they get older, also need medicare. And they entail social security (which is a form of welfare) and they need medicaid and they need... powerfully you get the idea. The money for all of those programs comes out of your taxes. So we still have need of to tax citizens and legal residents. We should, however, be much more stringent in how we endow with out public money to illegals so as to prevent having to raise taxes on hardworking citizens and legal immigrant.

In my opinion, the solution to illegal immigration is to phase contained by more and more strict investigation and enforcement of the employers that hire illegals. The cost to deter the supply of illegals is much higher than the cost to suppress demand. The valid problem then is how to adjust to the loss of inexpensive labor. Illegals work for less money and cannot claim benefits that US citizens will claim if they work the same job. So the costs for certain goods and services will rise. We as a society have to want if we feel the benefits of reducing illegal immigration is worth the higher cost of using American citizens to do the work, or possibly to use legal documented aliens.
The solution to this problem isn't difficult, what is difficult is arriving at a political decision about solving it. business like illegal immigration just fine thank you. But some Americans do not.
