Nothing, it's of late a liberal thing. When you don't have an intelligent argument to support your position, use the word "racist." Some people can't look previous race to actually see the act, or behavior, explicitly being called into question.
Its called PC within America and people acting as the victims. The truth is in America if you act resembling the victim you can get ahead, ya its sad but its the truth. Illegals come from everywhere surrounded by the United States but the majority of them come from Central America and we have groups in the nation that use the victim status to attain money out of it. Its not racism telling people to follow the laws but it make people shut up.

I wouldn't enjoy a problem with having more immigrants if we abolish the welfare state. But in order to do that, we'd have to exile plenty of Democrats and even some Republicans.

Other countries (like Mexico) laws are much harsher enforced than they are in the USA but look at the citizens surrounded by those countries. Mexico's Citizens are not making a huge deal about it, instead they help their prohibited immigrants. Its the government who is doing all the corruption and sharp punishment.
