What species of visa will I have need of (or can i get) to live within Japan?
In the next year my mum is planning to move to Japan to teach english (with us obviously) i just turned 18, and my brother freshly turned 15! & we dont plan on leaving our mum for a while yet, haha!
anyways, she will be going to japan with a work visa, and my brother is 15 so i'm guessing he will probablys dance to school 'til he's 18 there? even though he will leave institution next year in the UK? not sure! but would he get a student visa for that?
& after theres me, i do plan on going to a english speaking university in japan, but not straight away, once i'm settled, can you advise me on which visa i should apply for?
thanks within advance! :) we are currently british citizins!

You wouldn't even get out of Great Britain
15 years old,
would be a dependant and your mother should be applying for a dependants visa for him when she get hers, and showing how she will support him as well as herself.
18 years old.umm
you are on your own, unless japan sees the age of majority differently.
As a UK passport holder, you will achieve visa free entry for a few weeks (up to 6 months typically). For a longer period you will have to apply for yourself in your own signature, and show how you will suppport yourself. If your mother will sponsor/commit to supporting you, then she can write a letter of guarentee to support your application. That will have to lurk till she has confirmation of the position.
Initial Visa 90 days, extendable by 90 days

Most countries will not let you convert a visitors/visa free entry to a Visa status one, so you will do better to apply before you turn, or worst, apply in country and exit and return, eg fly to a near country (like taiwan or Hongkong) and back.
And bewary of getting a working holiday visa and not fullfilling any minimum work conditions, it may prevent you getting further entry to the country (a worldwide issue).
It possibly that you have to start looking at how you will support yourself in the UK after the 1st 6 months?
Have you researched if english speaking universities exist surrounded by Japan.,
and how much the cost to go to ?
likewise, international schools (i.e. for your brother) are not cheap !
Some funding question to be looked at, as teaching english in Japan is not the highest rewarded job (lots of english speaking people like to school - esp students on year breaks) ...and it is not the cheapest country to live in.
also be aware that Japan is undergoing a recession too...
and the jobs that be available may no longer be so...
a bit more google help for "Japan Visa" is perhaps also needed.
best of luck.
an interesting country ith very different ways of natural life and expectations of behaving in public....and private. Source(s): http://www.statravel.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/…
