It would be against immigration law for the employer to hire you. The government requires the employer verify your right to work in the US by completing the I-9 form.

The I-9 requires a valid green card and social wellbeing number or a birth certificate from the USA.

You do not meet the federal I-9 guidelines to work.
Your green card and social security are not valid documents for employment. Simply show them your EAD (Employment Authorization Document) and a state issued ID, if they want your SSN, then give it to them.

But by regulation, the employer cannot ask you, what your immigration status is in the United States, all they are permitted to ask you, is 'are you legally permitted to work surrounded by the U.S?' Anything else is an infringement.

This law was brought into place to stop discrimination within the work place.
Having a Social Security Number is not a work permit. If your green card has expired, you are not legally authorized to work. However, you can ask your company if they are liable to sponsor you a working visa/permit. Good luck.
You will not get a charge with an expired green card, however you can renew the card and you should be fine, or if you have a drivers license and your social, you will be able to seize the job. hmm..... ? i hope you do man!!!
