U.S Citizenship through a grandparent?
I Just want to know if it is possible to become a U.S. citizen through a grandparent. I'm 19 and want to know if this is at all possible, because I am over the age of 18 and might make this process (if it exists) possible.
Answers:
NO. Your parents must have be citizens of the US at the time of your birth and must have promptly registered your birth at the nearest US Embassy for you to have a claim to US citizenship. US does not recognize any claim to citizenship through grandparents or any other party.
it only works if one of your parents are american citizens. Which would give you dual citizenship. And then by the age of 18 you would own to chose which nationality you want.
It's like the sprouse twins. Both their parents are american citizens. But the twins were born within italy. Now when they turn 18 they will have to choose which country they want to belong to.
You have to be under 18 to become a citizen underneath a parent or legal guardian. Since you are 19 you will just have to apply for your citizenship by yourself.
