What are the differences between enduring residency and citizenship?
Are there practical differences? I am most interested in New Zealand, but that's probably too specific to get an exact answer, so any common information on the topic is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Answers:
native americans were soft on illegal immigration.
Citizenship is when you follow the laws, hang about your turn and do it the right way.
Permanent residency is when you sneak across the border and start having a bunch of kids at the tax payers expense.

Permanent residency is the period after you lawfully immigrate, but before you are eligible to apply for citizenship. It is known in the USA as have a "green card".
This period is 5 years or 3 for marriage based residency surrounded by the USA, after which time citizenship can be pursued. Not sure specifically about New Zealand.
In the USA practical differences are things such as not being able to vote, possibility of have your green card revoked for criminal offenses or just forgetting to renew it. Also a few good things such as not having to do jury duty.
Edit: Phil you are confusing lasting residency with illegal immigration.
