How I will return with green card within USA?

I have been granted immigration visa for USA. Will travel to New York within a month. Fingerprinting be done at US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. Do I have to apply for green card after reaching NY? Or it will by automatically delivered to my address contained by NY? I am sure immigration staff at NY airport will inform me of what needs to be done further. But I am bit curious to know before I depart for USA. Thank You.

If you're coming on an immigrant visa the green card will come within the mail about a month after your arrival.
Keep them posted of your new address. You are already an immigrant. The visa issued should either own no expiration and if it does, it should be good for a decade or so. You will get your card at the address you provide. You are required to keep them informed anytime you move.
So long as it's an immigrant visa and not something like K-1 or K-3, next you should have been given a big brown envelope. Keep that with you on the plane and upon your arrival contained by the US, present it at the first counter. They will then take you across to secondary inspection where on earth they'll inspect your papers, take your fingerprints (this time, not electronically) and you may have a short interview with an immigration officer.

After adjectives that's done and there's no problems, they will stamp your passport and send you on your way. Your green card and SSN (so long as you checked that box on your forms) will be posted out to you and you should receive it within a month or so. The stamp within your passport is proof of your status for up to 1 year and can be used prior to you receiving your green card.

If you need to catch a connecting flight, engineer sure you allow 2-3 hours for that secondary inspection.

Good luck.
