Unlike the US, Mexico has a very tough immigration law. You will be sent to send to prison and then eventually deported. Ironic isn't it??

To answer your question... If THEY (Mexican Police) detain you, you will rot in a prison cell. No due process, no "speedy trial", no "rights" as you know them....
Quite different than what happens here where we contribute you water, medical check up, food, and a ride to the local ACORN office to get your voter card application chock-full out......

They are hypocrites and their immigration laws are reasonably strict, just like ours should be.

As far as its not expired it is a valid identification. It is in the USA. As a California Notary as long as the passport is no more than five years expired and the Notary can read the identification (it's within a language he understands or has a translation of the biographical data) the notary can adopt it...
