What is John McCain's present position on illegitimate immigration? what change, if any, own be made?

...btw, this is not a "trick" or "I-gotcha!" question. I just want something as objective/accurate as possible, please.

Also, I am not asking about your state of mind regarding illegal immigration although you may express those too if you wish. But please address the foremost question most of all. I'd really like some clarity about Senator McCain's position and, yes, I am aware that his position has shown some changes--even conflictual changes. Tell me about those change too if you know.

Thanks everybody! I really value, as well as most of us, knowing the issues although the distractions are already piling up.

One Hispanic Congressperson told the world McCain have veered back to the business of supporting the immigration laws that Congress solitary.

I don't know. I believe the guy was trying to force McCain to declare himself for open borders.
The President of the US has no power to enact or change immigration law.
Case in point: Bush tried for amnesty 4 times and lost. Finally he ordered Homeland Security to crack down and increase ICE raids.

So it is Congress that has the power to influence immigration.
McCain has stated several times that we must in safe hands the border as well as starting a guest worker program, and then approach the existence of those living illegally contained by our country, sensibly and humanely
He will bring a comprehensive immigration shake-up back to the senate, that's something we must do ASAP we have to face the actuality that we are never going to deport 12 millions people, we also need to make sure that tjis time we are going to protect our borders Neither are strong adequate for me on the illegal immigration issue. However, I believe McCain will do more about it then Obama. Write your senator and congressmen because explicitly where the initial change starts.
His position is to secure our southern border, and to deport criminal unlawful aliens, and to give a "path to citizenship"/amnesty to the rest.
