How do you consistency almost immigrant coming into your country and refuse to adopt your culture?

Answers:
All countries have immigrants. I'm relatively happy to welcome those that settle and contribute. I don't have any objection to them retaining their identity or the fact they have their own communities where they can bump into people from their own background and culture and eat and drink things from home etc, but I do draw the chain when they try to 'change' my culture and way of life. Thankfully, there are not too oodles who try and do this but a few activists have managed to seize 'special' laws etc passed which spoils it for the rest of them.
That depends upon whether they consider themselves to be permanent immigrant or just ex-pats. I am English and in the main I detest it when our culture is so eroded by immigrant groups refusing to integrate but on the other hand I was raise in Zambia and my family did not adopt Zambian ways although we did make a great abundant friends with local school children, so I suppose it is a little hypocritical, however we did not purloin Zambian nationality nor did we ever think of the country as our permanent home.
i was never under the assumption that anyone have to adopt any certain culture. This sounds kind of nationalistic, unless you are trying to ask about assimilating and becoming cut of the nation.
I think it is categorically appalling and it weakens society. Prior to the beginning of mass immigration, my country was composed almost exclusively of white British population. They all shared a culture, and apart from minor differences between class, they could relate to each other.

Now look at what has happen. So many different langauges and cultures - is it surprising that people don't relate to each other as ably anymore? If you go out to any public place, you will see that the white people sit together. So do the black people. And the Asians. If it's working, why don't they adjectives sit together? We are a divided nation now, and it is resulting in the collapse of society. What fools we have be.
'Refusing' is a big word. Immigrant ethnic group possibly withdraw through bad experiences they encounter on first arrival.

Host nations/people are not always as pleasant and hence friction arises from the start.

But I do not think it is fair to expect a host to immediately know how to converse in a foreign language for example (there are so many language!). It is usually the language barrier that people find most frustrating.

If I moved to or visit another country, out of respect I would learn the language, but more for the pragmatic reason that I would never want to submit power to a third group, that being an interpretor, who might not always be fully able to convey my wishes.

People that don't revise the language of their adopted country run this risk (the need to communicate within emergency, for example) and are probably losing out. Some people would say this is discrimination, which does exist, but it is impossible to enjoy a native, accustomed to their homeland traditions speak a foreign language immediately. And because countries are in a minute even more diverse, learning just one secondary writing to compensate would discriminate against others. Hence now council public information in a variety of language, but why not Dutch, French, Spanish, Swedish and others for example..?

I think refusing to be open to up to date experiences and cultures yields very little. But you have to ask the sound out 'why' do people refuse...
I don't mind immigrants coming into my country and keeping their culture but it does win on my nerves when they refuse to learn the language. Or the local or federal command enables them by making applications in multiple languages.

Then you find some groups that want our country to change as to not offend them.

For example: We can't have a Christmas Party it have to be a Holiday Party or Fall Party.

In the UK there is a Muslim community outraged at police advert featuring cute puppy sitting in policeman's head covering because dogs are considered ritually unclean and has sparked such anger that some shopkeepers in Dundee enjoy refused to display the advert.

This UK story makes me want to rent a dog costume and dance through the streets of Dundee.

Come on! This BS is really getting out of foot. If I lived in a different country for an extended period of time, I'd want to learn the law, language, and customs. Source(s): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...
That is a splendid idea to have visitors from foreign soil and desire
to lay stakes in the USA.It's the right thing to do.
The borders have other been open for travel and with a country as great as ours...Why not permit the want to visitors come and visit the USA;
they want to see what makes America great...consequently we are to welcome our visitors to America...But they should be accountable for crimes committed here.No deal!
Had Uncle Sam not let my Grandfather in this country to live back contained by early 1900s,I probably would have a green card today.
I live in West Texas and hold a lot more respect for the people who do not adopt the culture here. Although the people here may be friendly (or so they will speak about you) they are as a rule, uncouth slobs who should not be copied. If it were only possible for the associates here to adopt the culture of other peoples, this might be a more interesting place to live in.
Just the way they would feel roughly speaking me doing the same thing. I would not like it much. But I am much more bothered by immigrant coming into my country and insisting we make cultural changes to accommodate them
Why should where you live affect who you are? I am sending my resume to various businesses out of the country in hopes of after I graduate I might get a chance to see a bit of the world. Should I alteration who and what I am to appease the people of those countries? This ideology that people should change only just because they moved to the U.S. is a bit ridiculous. Our country is a cultural blend, and we should encourage cultural diversity not try and stamp it out. How are they hurting anyone anyway? I agree immigrants should learn our communication, but not to keep you from hearing theirs' in the super marketplace, but to help them be more productive here. Any language barrier that immigrant may have does not hurt English speaking Americans it just hinders those who do not speak it. When I acquire to another country I will still be American, and will still drink beer on the weekends while grilling in my backyard while listening to Toby Keith on my radio. I am proud of who I am, why should immigrants to our nation not be proud of who they are?
I'm not bothered to be honest, I too am an immigrant as I come from South Africa and am living within England but yeah, say I was living in SA again and British society moved there and refused to adpot our culture, I wouldnt really give a crap tbh.
Refusing to adopt to what culture? America is a multi-cultured country, you all need to learn to adopt that my friend... b/c in a few years from now, you gonna see many face many languages. It's like someone recounting you not to do things you grew up doing as a child, that is who you are and nobody can take that away for as much as they try. Thi scountry may have rules, but noody can let somebody know anbody how to live their lives. THANK YOU VERY MUCH:D Source(s): JUST ME
Heil!! Just fine. Why should they? If I moved to another country I would keep my own. To expect anything else is ridiculous, moving to Japan would not make me Japanese would it? Source(s): report report report
I find it frustrating. They are free to practice they're own religion, and stay true to their own traditions, but they should try to embrace American culture. They become Americans. They wanted to right?

And close to was said above, they are free to do what they want, but they shouldn't expect all of us to change our lives to accommodate them.
I don't care what they do in their four walls of their own home (as long as it is legal).

But the bare minimum is this: If they wish to work in the USA, after they must learn to read, write and speak English.
i feel like most of the anti-immigrant lot probably never bookish a second language but wouldn't feel it was basic if they went to a place where most people speak traversable english. Like germany or italy or france or spain.
the rest of the world is a lot more welcoming to the English than we are to anyone else. we're even hostile to the scots, irish and welsh.
do you suppose it's because all foreigners look impossible to tell apart to english people?
But, Rule Britannia - you keep telling us how much you dislike Britain as it is.

Are you going to take your own counsel?

I'm not so insecure in my culture that I need everyone to be like me. I'm thrilled for immigrants to maintain their own culture, as long as they obey the law of this land and pay their taxes. I don't feel that my culture is threatened by others not sharing it.

I do devise it is incumbent on immigrants to learn English as quickly as possible, if merely to allow them to participate in Britain more fully.
I have no problem with immigrants bringing their culture next to them, it's when they try to adopt their own laws as in Sharia Law, I take exception too. If I moved to another country, I would fully expect to abide by the law of that country.
It's their vivacity and their choice i do not approve of ilegal immigration, i live in mexico and i would never tell an american to forget his culture or his way of enthusiasm just because he lives in another country
Well it's a honest idea to adopt some customs of the country you move to, but it's also good to retain some of your own culture.

Say if you moved to Japan. Just cause your in attendance doesn't mean that you have to stop doing all things american.

East is east, and west is west, as the great man Charles Dickens once said.
If you don't want to conform to our ways of hygiene, and culture----go somewhere else
I'm doing a report on this as I type, but I deliberate it's ridiculous. I feel the government should take more feat.

I want to become a Mexican Illegal Immigrant, but only to speak english.

I just hope President Obama tackles the situation.
I'd be slightly pissed past its sell-by date if it happened to my country. But I guess that the Hindus managed to turn the tables on the Brits.

I guess Britain is getting what be coming for it - for all these centuries it was colonising other countries, and now copious foreign nations are "colonising" Britain.
You mean close to the British did in Africa and India, where they went over in that and immediately adopted local forms of dress and culture, rather than trying to enforce their passageway of life on millions of locals who had been comparatively happy before?
I'm pretty used to it - as it all started so long ago...

The Angles, Saxons, Danes, Romans, Normans... The French, Germans and Spanish all tried too but we spank them off.. But along came the Scots, Welsh, Irish, and no sooner had we get used to them the Empire collapsed and everyone came but before the ex hit the fan we made the mistake of joining the "Common Market" so very soon poor little England is a free for all - and the English almost faint when they meet another within the street...

I have no argument against immigrants - as long as they work hard and pay packet their dues and do not expect anything for nothing... The welfare system has been salaried for by the hard sweat of our forebears and should not be abused. I respect them as long as they show equal respect to me and my loved ones.

What I do object to is groups of young asian women forcing elderly white women to pace in the street rather than make room for them on the pavement as they would expect others to do for them... Also to childish black men spitting into the faces of middle aged white women for no reason - I have witnessed both of these things still quality the anger and disgust inside me. Fortunately there are other much nicer memories, such as the lovely young chap (also black) who caught my Mum as she tripped entering a shopping focal point. And my many lovely Muslem friends.

The fireworks are a bit OTT - just about finished presently, well I only heard a few this weekend... started within early October. In the good old days they be only on for one night - November 5th - but they got adopt by the Hindus and as they are the main cultural group in this area immediately we have to put up with them or leave our birthplace. My later dog was sent senile by the noise and his fear of them...

So, within summary, if you are thinking of moving abroad: Especially if it is into the UK; learn to speak the language, receive a job, pay your way, swot up a little about the people whose lands you are moving to and try to respect them - after and only then should you expect to feel greeting.
I couldn't care less; it doesn't affect me. And as an immigrant myself (America to Korea), I know how knotty it is to adopt a completely new lifestyle. I suggest you try it for yourself.
Well...I feel if you are going to live in america you should to speak english out of respect for our culture. yes, we enjoy freedom of religion but if that means soiling in the bathroom and spreading it on the walls..praying for 30 minutes 2 times a day.

I do not own a problem with legal immigrants, or those working on their citizenship.

I live in an area where various illegals are hiding. It is really
a shame.

Well...if they refuse to adopt basic respects of this culture then they can shift back home becase I just pulled back the meet mat

it sounds childish and maybe it is but some parts of culture of the country you live in if you don't believe in them later you at least need to respect them.

My gripe is with the ones that have been here several years and wont even try to speak any English. Meanwhile second verbal skill is being taught in school and becoming more of a requirement in many jobs.
Im still trying to narrow down what the US culture is? I imagine soon I will have to cram how to speak spanish. Too bad I took french in high institution. I only have one problem if you come here please learn english. Other next that carry on.

I party with everyone! :)
This tired odl ask again. everyone knows criminal gagns are sponging off the taxpayer. The only solution is to acquire out of te eu and get our country ack!!.

Winston Churchill United Kingdom
adjectives immigrants should obey by the laws of the country they are surrounded by.. if they don't like it they should go bad to wear they cam from.
i imply in the uk we build all sorts of things for them for the beliefs and they do what they want, but if we go to here country we obey there laws ( we don't win the choice ) Source(s): mememememe thumb down time

Eurovision- How come poland give the UK no points when we enjoy here immigrant?
Dont get it at all. Also alot of countries in europe would earn alot of near money from british tourists. Because they are bitter. Plus they only vote for neighboring country's. I was MOST shocked that Malta didn't give us a single point! They usually give us 12. What's going on?!...
