Will My child enjoy dual residency?

I am a US citizen and my Husband is British, I live with him in the Uk but do not have citizenship in that. I am on a 2 year spousal visa. I am 6 months pregnant and my son will be born in the Uk. Will he be fully British or American or both?
Answers:
Yes. All you have to do is take the newborn to the nearest American consulate and fill out the papers there.

However, the US doesn't officially see dual nationality. The child will be considered only a US citizen in the US. I don't know almost the UK.
Your child will enjoy dual nationality.

You'll need to register the child's birth with the US Embassy surrounded by London.

The child can claim US Citizenship through you as any child born to a US parent is automatically counted as a US Citizen.

For the UK side, any child born in the UK after January 1st 1983 and who has one parent who is either a British Citizen or for always settled in the UK becomes a UK citizen. You won't have to do anything special for the UK side. The child will be a UK citizen at birth, and become a US citizen once you register his/her birth next to the US Embassy. Go to the US Embassy and file a consular report of birth abroad (FS-240). Your child will be a US citizen. Being born contained by the UK to a British citizen makes him or her a British citizen. You now have a dual citizen newborn on your hands. Now what do you feed him fish and chips or hamburgers and fries?
The US recognizes dual citizenship!

The concept of dual residency means that a person is a citizen of two countries at the same time. Each country have its own citizenship laws based on its own policy.Persons may have dual residency by automatic operation of different laws rather than by choice. For example, a child born in a foreign country to U.S. citizen parents may be both a U.S. citizen and a citizen of the country of birth. Source(s): US State Department
