In terms of Illegal Immigration. I'd voice the USA because it borders with Mexico, which is a third world country (not as bad as Africa though) - and many other South and Central Americans go by through the Mexico border, also. The border to the North, is Canada, but Canada aren't a problem - they're a first world country.
The UK is an island surrounded by European Union countries (which are well-off) - so it's more difficult to illegally immigrate here.
However, the UK has a massive problem when it comes to letting in Eastern Europeans (the poor side of Europe) and immigrant falsely claiming Asylum. But they're not "illegal".
The UK probably suffers more when it comes to letting in immigrants. The USA is twice the size of Europe, and already have strict immigration laws as it is. The UK is fairly lax in comparison, all the same is waaay smaller.
The UK has a population of 60 million people. This may be alot smaller than USA (300 million people), but Australia and Canada (both alot bigger than us, too) has around 20 million - 40 million citizens.

I think the U.S.
the U.K. has people of European ancestry that be originally from that region,but the Europeans that came to the U.S. they took it from the natives, then set up immigration to get family from other nations and colors to uphold their claim to justify they are not aggressors but would love everyone else to be part of the U.S.A. , very soon they dont even want them and want to remain a majority and want to ban illegal immigration to anyone except the selected race . They will blame loss of money due to illegal immigration and crime rates, but facts prove otherwise.
They use war/fear mongering to separate the other groups of people to keep them distanced, they realize next to unity they would be a problem having this accomplished or to uphold their possible agenda.
If you want to find the root start of iffy immigration take it back to the creation of the U.S.

Well, let's see. The U.K. is a small island with 241,590 sq km of land, and the U.S. is 9,161,923 sq km and have land borders with other countries. The U.K. gets resembling 5 people a day trying to come in and they freak out, and the U.S. regularly get thousands of people coming through. The U.K. has only to patrol it's comparatively small waterfront borders and the U.S. have both waterfront and land borders. I think that the U.S. trumps the U.K. in every conceivable issue apropos of immigration. Is immigration a problem within the U.K.? Yes! But There is no comparing the two.
What's the problem with dubious immigrants? Just grant an amnesty and make them legitimate. It's not a problem.
What difference would it make? The only change I can see is that they will pay packet taxes - so more money for Government. Other than that I don't see it as a "PROBLEM" as you call it.
