How did Polish immigrant come to Ellis Island?
Did they come on a boat if so how long did it take them and how many times did it travel back?
Answers:
1.5 million Polish immigrants be processed at Ellis Island between 1899 and 1931. American employers considered Polish immigrants better suited than Italians for arduous manual labor surrounded by coal-mines, slaughterhouses, and steel mills, particularly in the primary stages of steel manufacture. Consequently, Polish migrants be recruited for work in the coal mines of Pennsylvania and the heavy industries (steel mills, iron foundries, slaughterhouses, grease and sugar refineries) of the Great Lakes cities of Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Buffalo, Milwaukee, and Cleveland. They make some dang good sausage too!
Yes most immigrant came by boat. im not sure if airplanes were accessible or even created at the time of some immigration but even if there be air travel most immigrants wouldn't have be able to pay that much. for european immigrants it usually took 2-3 weeks to acquire to america. the boat that brought immigrants probably traveled back and forth as often as it could because at hand were definitely time periods contained by U.S. history where immigration was huge. I know that they came on a boat to Ellis Island. Travel took around almost a week or so. I think the boats ran as long as immigrants were given the right to come to the U.S. Source(s): My grandparents be from Poland.
Legally, and by ships. The ships of those days be not as fast as the ships of today. So it took weeks to months at best.
