Visa extension?
A friend of mine came from Brazil to the United States 5 months ago and he wants to stay 2 more months. His whole Visa expires surrounded by 5 years, but by law a foreign can only stay in the United States for 6 months. Can he kind this extension for 2 more months? If he makes this extension will there be a risk that he might not come back to the United States? Where can i cram more about this? Who can he call and talk to and what should he do? Please provide me beside more information.

The visa is just for entry, the I-94 (white paper beside the stamp and date placed in the passport) is what gives you your time of stay each drop by. Each person on a visitor visa is given 6 months at the time of entry. You can then extend for up to another 6 months while within the country. You must simply file the appropriate paperwork with US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Do that sooner rather than following though as it can take some time.
If she came in beneath the visa waiver program the stay cannot be extended. If she came with a visa you can request an extension. It's important that you request the extension as soon as possible because if you don't hear an answer by the time the I-94 runs out she must assume it be denied and leave.

If you are filing for an extension/change, you must file your application next to the original Form I-94 of each person included surrounded by your application. In addition, you must submit a written statement explaining in detail:

A. The reasons for your request;
B. Why your extended stay would be short-term, including what arrangements you have made to depart from the United States; and
C. Any effect the extended stay may have on your foreign employment or residency.
i had be in the same situation, when i came to the US to apply to some college, did some shopping, visit friends etc... i left the US a month in a half after i be suppouse to... and ... i didn't have any problems when i went back to my country... i also come back to the US 4 months after to attend college.

I changed my home address to my mailing address for my stimulas refund the day formerly Mine was being sent out. If it gets returned to the IRS how long will it cart to get mailed back to me? I have to do the same thing! And they told me it would take 4 weeks extra for...
