Immigrant visa for a daugther of a endorsed resident?
I am a US citizen and had applied for immigrant visa for my mother and sister. My mother has gotten her visa (annotation states something about I551) and arrived to the States. 1) Does my mom inevitability to do do anything to secure her residency status or just need to dawdle for the green card. 2) More importantly can my mother immediately file for an immigrant visa for her unmarried dauther (over 21) and so she gets complex preference waiting for the number? Thank you

Your mother should petition for your sister versus you doing so. If your mother does so, it would mean your sister would be processed sooner. They are currently processing 15JAN00 for children of perm. residents. Versus if you were to do so, they are processing 15NOV97 for siblings of citizens. Keep surrounded by mind, that this means for your mother to petition, it still is nearly a 9 year process with DOS, after CIS approves it!
