Do my self-employed years count as "employed time" contained by my immigration request?
I am willing to immigrate to Australia. I have been running a frank business since 1998, so I am self employed. In my application for a
Skilled - Independent - Migrant (subclass 175) visa I must state the time I have been employed in the ultimate 48 months. Does my time as a self employed professional count for the application? What kind of documents must I present to prove it?
Answers:
did you file tax refunds for those years? if so, than yes, since you have a legitimate taxed income from your self employment. if not, you wont be capable of prove it and they wouldnt believe you.
Yes, if it be a full time employment and you earned your living by it.
I suggest you will need to show copies of your tax returns for those years, if you have a registered company show the legal docs for that, plus any letterheads and business cards and entries in Yellow Pages - basically anything to prove that you be working and making a living.
A prerequisite for your visa application is a positive skills assessment by the body responsible for assessing your particular occupation and will often include a statement of your smooth of experience (IT assessments usually do for example). You may need to produce invoices, quotations, testimonials from clients, company and/or personal tax returns or similar to prove your claim.
Once you have your assessment and can in actual fact apply for your visa, your time as a self employed professional will count the same as if it was spent with an employer.
