Will I lose my green card if?

I was an asylee in the US since 2003, I received my green card in 2007 through asylum. I want to travel put a bet on to my country to visit my father who is dying from cancer. His last wish is to see me one final time before he dies. Will I automatically lose my green card if I go back for a few days? Please assist.

The INS will ask the following question: If you seeked "asylum", why would you be in motion to your own country to be persecuted? Wont they kill you or your life be threatened there? If not, conceivably you dont need the greencard.
