Can an international student on a F1 visa apply for Permanent Residence (form I-485) basically resembling that?
Just to adjust his/her status, wants to apply for permanent residence.
Or maybe so the cost of arts school can decrease for him/her.
Can it be possible?
Answers:
No, there's no basis on which to file a I-485. Do you remember how, subsidise when you got your F1, you promised the consular officer who interviewed you that you'd leave the United States?
To file an I-485 you'd involve a reason, such as marriage to a US citizen. I-485 is for a person for whom an immigrant visa is urgently available.
Absolutely not. Student visas are not an immigration-class visa. In certainty, student visas are issued on the conditions that the student (a) cannot work, and (b) must return home upon completion/termination of studies. Students must return to their home country or there is a visa violation on their record which can prevent them from getting any visa, applying for immigration, etc. The application would be denied on the grounds of prior visa defilement.
Not even marriage will help a student change status -- they own to go home for 2 years while a spousal visa application is processed.
In F-1 Visa status, you cannot file for Green Card. You need to hold a sponsor who will provide you documents that will help you to apply for Green Card.
That will usually happen only if you employed. Companies will sponsor your Green Card.
No... u either marry a citizen, ur employer sponsors your (not easy if u dont have MD or PhD) or u win the green card lottery.
I come here with a F2 visa, changed to H4, now im getting my green card since my mother married a citizen some months ago.
Resolved Questions:
If a individual marry someone from the uk can you both receive dual passports?
In depends on the two countries involved! Some countries do not allow dual nationality and many other countries are trying to eat up the numbers of people with dual nationality. Neither of you will attain 'dual passports'. In order to get a passport, you need to be a citizen...
