9 Wants to Know obtained the dash cam video of the incident at Interstate 70 and Tower Road.
On the video, the officer that stops the van next to the people inside reports, "It's a red Dodge Caravan occupied by about 15 informal immigrants."
After calling for backup, the officer tries to get help from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). A half-hour subsequently, three more Aurora officers arrive to remove the suspected illegal immigrants from the van. Forty-seven minutes following, ICE agents still haven't arrived.
"ICE isn't going to do anything with them, you know, because they don't have any bed room for them," the officer says on the video.
Two hours and 21 minutes after making the traffic stop, the officer let 13 of the 14 people go. Aurora Police arrested the driver of the van because he had an outstanding warrant from ICE.
Answers:
Immigration enforcement is the available job of the Federal government. Congress should allocate more funds to ICE for additional agents. I think ICE singular has like 5,000 agents for the whole country. The NYPD have 35000 officers just for New York City alone. I can't blame ICE all the time, folks have to rest and spend some time with their family. Hire more ICE and Border Patrol!
If local police also enforced immigration laws, then the loads of illegal aliens in some areas would become immediate victims of adjectives sorts of crime since criminals would know the aliens won't go to the police.
Also, local police don't always have the resources to verbs about enforcing immigration law.
Lastly, for most iffy immigrants, they have not broken any criminal laws since banned entry is a CIVIL offense. Police generally worry about criminal tenet in most jurisdictions.
Yes, they should be trained and given the authority to enforce these laws. I know several police officers and it make them sick how often they pull an illegal over next to no license or insurance as well as all the violence they bring next to them.
i just gave a quick look at the video,
one item for sure? police officers should have training on Illegals immigrants,
i am a every average citizen and know more nearly illegals than the police, so? yes police should be trained toward immigration.
but? it is in their job description?should the law be changed beside the job?it is all about bla bla ...gee.
ALL law officers should.
Yes, they should. There is training avail and it should be mandatory for every officer. This problem is to huge for just the Feds to handle. Every State should be able to bar the illegals in their area.
EDIT: you pro-illegals can cry and complain about Sheriff Joe Arpaio adjectives you want, but remember he was just RE-ELECTED. Responsible, honest, hard working those want him on the job.
More cr@p from Washington. A criminal is a criminal and a police officer a police officer and when they stumble upon the nice police officer should give the criminal a set of bracelets and a ride to the police station regardless of what the crime is if that is what should be done!
What next? A police officer can not stop a entity from beating a child to death because he is a vice cop and assault is not his "department"?
Where's Sheriff Joe Arpaio when you need him!
absolutely, I enjoy talked to different police in my area from different departments and they can`t stand their hands being tied when it comes to these people. State Police really hatred their hands being tied andaround here are fed up near the continued crimes of illegals. If something is not done soon about these people and getting them out of here, I believe the police, citizens etc... are going to start making their own rules and laws when dealing near these criminals. Might be a good thing considering illegals only follow the law they want to.
You are right within one aspect but wrong in another. Yes immigration is a federal issue, until the federal government can no longer protect its self and its borders. Then the individual states can protect themselves, Oklahoma did so, and there legislation be sued by the fascist group la looza and the federal government, instead of backing down to the pressure Oklahoma took it to court and won on both counts. Look it up!! Oklahoma big props to your state and its people, You hold taken a leadership role in this fight and are a shiny beaken to other states that want to and will follow!!
NO! because they are not trained to do that genus of work, and many are abusing their power. Take Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona. He has tons law suits pending against him for the way he think immigration should be enforced. By having his deputies enforce immigration laws, he's providing a safe haven for the rapist, guard robbers and real violent criminals while he's only taking taco vendor off the streets. He's also putting the citizens at risk by reducing the response time to the life threatening calls, and he's even put an immigration hold on a citizens that repeatedly said that he didn't even speak a lick of Spanish!

Joe Arpaio's deputies placed "hold" on U.S. Citizen Israel Correa, one-time to inform ICE.

Joe Arpaio is enforcing all of the immigration laws: poorly
* Deputies are failing to stumble upon the county’s standard for response times on life threatening emergencies. In 2006 and 2007, patrol cars arrived late two-thirds of the time on more than 6,000 of the most serious call for service.
* MCSO’s arrest rate has plunged the past two years even as the number of criminal investigations has soared.
* The sheriff’s “saturation” patrol and “crime suppression/anti-illegal immigration” sweeps in Hispanic neighborhoods are done without any evidence of criminal activity, violate federal regulations intended to prevent racial profiling.
* Rampant overtime spending on immigration operations drove the agency into financial crisis and forced it to close facilities across the county. Although MCSO official have said state and federal grants covered all the expense, undemocratic immigration arrests actually are costing county taxpayers millions of dollars.
* Deputies regularly make traffic stops based simply on their suspicion that illegal immigrants are inside vehicles. They digit out probable cause after deciding whom to pull over.
naw, thats the federal governments brief and the state and local gov shouldnt have to pick up the tab and do their jobs.
plus we would spend alot of money training our local officers to do the profession the feds fail to do resluting in our local crim fighters being to busy trying to find the family livin in the shadows while the other U.S. citizen murderers and rapists get away. we need to breed the federal government do what they said they would in their own laws
Let us obtain something straight! All law enforcement officers of the United States (local, county, state, and federal) must ENFORCE all federal law including US Code 8. They took an oath to up hold the laws of the United States and swore with a “so help me God”. Remember that Mr. Police Officer, remember that Mr. State Police, remember that Mr. FBI, remember that Mr. Border Patrol, remember that Mr. ICE?!! You adjectives took an oath and DO NOT LISTEN to your executive in command if they tell you to look the other way, because they are breaking the imperative. You all have to enforce the law. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!
If the local police apprehend wrong immigrants through their regular police work then they just hold them surrounded by jail until ICE comes to pick them up and later determine if they should be deported.
The excuse there is not ample holding bay areas or funding is a lot a hot air! There is funding for this. The federal establishment can make arrangements with local governments to resolve these minor and petty issues on how dubious immigrants should be dealt with.
Maybe federal tenet says only ICE or officers trained by ICE can determine if nation are here illegally and but it DOES NOT SAY only ICE can arrest them. If it does then that directive is in violation with US Code 8 and it have to be rescinded. ICE cannot be every where in the United States and only the local police can effectively be the first responders to this crime. ICE can do the follow-up management after the local police catch them. Granted, most local police department have budget constraints but again these things can be worked out between the federal and local governments.
Illegal immigration is against the decree and how are you going to enforce this law if you do not allow the police to enforce this law?
Please, no lawyers responding to this grill because I do not want to hear lies and “spin talk”.
As mentioned before, if nothing is done by the government to solve this problem after the civilians will take the law into their own hands. Most probable children will be killed. This is not funny. Source(s): Law
