Live out of the country for 6 months - entitled to benefits on return?
Hi
I'm moving from the UK to Europe for 6 months to look for work.
However, when I return, I may need to claim Job Seekers Allowance whilst looking for a job back contained by the UK, but will I be entitled to it if I've registered as a resident in another country?
thanks

you should be entitled to whatever benefits are available in Uk as EU has rules governing this sort of article . to be certain pop along or write /phone the benefits office with your enquiry. allow at least 30 days for an answer .
there are two sorts of profession seekers allowance - contributions based - this depends on you having paid ample national insurance contributions during the previous 2 years.
The other sort is income based job seekers allowance - ie if you have no source of income and controlled savings they will pay you benefits if you are actively looking for work. The rules will vary depending on your residency - so check with the a local advice agency such as CAB, (the job nub, who should know, probably won't).
