British passport grill..?
My parents are English and I was born in the US. Because of that I obtain British citizenship automatically. I want to apply for a british passport. My mum swears up and down that I be on her british passport when i was a baby. (Did they do that 20+ years ago, put babies on their parents passport?)
She can't find her old passport, so I don't know if that's true or not. So, do I apply near the "first time appying" application or do i do a renewal?
Also, the only reason I am getting it is just because I'd close to to have it as a peace of mind. My parents might retire back to England, and I just want to know that I could run back with them if I wanted.
Can I apply for my passport even though I don't plan to live within are the moment?

My kids name were on my passport 20 years ago, try calling the passport office for advice on how to turn about getting the information. I guess it will be a lot harder to find out with adjectives the security these days. Get in touch beside the passport office in Petty France, London. They should be able to make clear to you.
My daughter is in the same situation.
With your passport application you must send your birth warrant, your parents birth certificates and marriage certificate (although not required if you mother is a British citizen).
Copies if birth and wedding certificates can be ordered from the general registry office.

you need to apply as if for a first-time passport - kids did used to be included on parent passwords (although now they need their own), but it doesn't count as a 'previous' passport so you stipulation to start from scratch
as a british citizen living outside the uk, i'd imagine it's not going to be straightforward (do you have proof of british citizenship?)
the website below will abet you find out if you're eligible to get a british passport; if so, i'd imagine you need to step to the british consulate nearest you to apply
Yes kids used to travel on their parents (even with the Brits I've seen the copies of my parent's old passports). What happen was your mom was the primary holder of the passport (it was issued surrounded by her name), you got a free ride (as passports were expensive to make and as kids swing a lot they just put them on the parents). Because of this you are a first time applicant.
You'd only be eligible for a renewel if you can show your antediluvian (in your name) passport at the time of renewal.
You can apply for a British passport. Since you're born after 1983 it's easy. You need your birth certificate (long copy with your mom's name on it) and proof of her British citizenship. Click on the link for more details.

Just do yourself a wish if you're not in a rush do it when the US dollar is strong against the pound (passport prices depend on two things when they go via the embassies, what the government dictates and the exchange rate) and also, generate a photocopy of your mother's details so you can get a renewal easily.
