How do Non- Immigrants hang on to busy?
Can you give me any suggestions on what a Non- Immigrant can do to keep busy in the United States? So far, I thought of volunteer work.... but that's it! I know I'm unqualified to work legally until I file for permanent residency. Thanks....

recycle cans and bottles at beach and parks. not only are you keeping yourself busy but making money as well. alot of people don't do it but it could be profitable.
if you do volunteer, it can only be at a charity or a non-profit company and with the sole purpose if the position has always been a volunteer one.
Also you can do hobbies and interests.
I spent my time (while I be waiting for PR to be processed) doing genealogy on the internet. I found so much information. It was very good use of my time, because in a minute I dont have enough time to do any genealogy.
Write a book, practice your art, study, work out; do the things that you muse you'd like to do if you retired wealthy.
Spit contained by the air and try to catch it. that should be fun for you.
