What is the difference between a migrant and a immigrant?

Answers:
you mirgate somewhere. you have immigrated when you get there. so society there call you an immigrate and they could leave when you bring there and migrate elsewhere. elks migrate and birds migrate but nobody calls them immigrants, although i guess you could.
Basically, a migrant go somewhere to work for a period of time, then leaves. They are not planning on staying there. An example would be a migrant worker who go to an agricultural area during the fall to harvest crops.

An immigrant moves somewhere and stays in that. Source(s): http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/m...
