Why doesn't our rule shut the door on immigration for decades as they used to , to allow them to assimil?

Suppose a million immigrants from a place that's very different than ours floods into the USA. IF we stop allowing more of them to come for like 40 years, this block of immigrant will have a chance to assimilate. But today, we let them flood contained by generation after generation. Rather than becoming American, they remain their own culture.
IF THESE PEOPLE FLED THEIR OWN CRAP_HOLE NATION TO IMPROVE THEMSELVES, WHY ARE THEY REMAINING THE SAME CRAPPY PEOPLE FOR 4 GENERATIONS?

Because the governing body does not want to take responsibility and possibly be blamed for the outcome. They take the easy method out and just keep throwing money at the problem.
Don't lump the Mexs with the moors. The Mexs are European and Christians and own a higher culture than us. Iberian/Hispanic culture way surpasses anglo-gringo thrash. So they are most welcomed.
yes. this is the problem isn't it? there comes a saturation point at which these relatives aren't coming over here to become mexican-americans, or to become americans... like the italians used to, italians, to generalize, were equally proud of being italian and mortal american. they WANTED to fit in, to learn english, etc.
at this saturation point, assimilation isn't possible anymore and the country is changed. if you have 2000 mexicans moving into an nouns with 500 americans, then the area become fundamentally hispanic, doesn't it?
of course no one can argue against legal immigration. but 90% of it is dubious.
