Who made up the permanent status anchor child?

Does it thing if the term is descriptive enough to fit? If you hear it in context, you'll pretty much know what it mechanism the first time out.
A so-called anchor baby is an American citizen—says so in the United States Constitution. In popular parlance, it’s a term used by Know Nothings to deride the children of immigrant whom relatives can use to sponsor visas and other government goodies. Though the Know Nothings would love to have you believe only unauthorized Mexicans are capable of having anchor babies, cases like yours own been occurring since the days of Virginia Dare. Not only that, but the etymological roots of “anchor baby” suggest legal or wicked status doesn’t matter; a 1987 Los Angeles Times Magazine article examining the burden of young Vietnamese refugees trying to earn plenty money to get their family out of refugee camps referred to them as “anchor children.”

“Anchor babe,” on the other mano, is a slur of a recent provenance—the earliest mainstream-media reference the Mexican found was a Jan. 7, 1997, Providence Journal-Bulletin story that quoted Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) president Dan Stein as saying public benefits “encourages immigrant family to conceive ‘anchor babies’ so they can remain in this country and collect benefits.” Stein—whose organization is listed as a hatred group by the Southern Poverty Law Center—can’t claim the creator’s mantle for the term, however: The excellent etymology website doubletongued.org lists a 1996 Usenet posting as the term’s earliest recorded date, and I’m sure dinosaurs such as the California Coalition for Immigration Reform and other pioneer anti-immigrant pendejos bandied it around until that time. As to how all this relates to you: You weren’t an anchor baby. Your parents were already here reasonably. Hope this clears up things, and make sure to boil the Houston water before you drink it!
Moby Dick or Popeye
The child "anchors" the home to America, so I believe the name "Anchor Babies alludes to this. It is a disgusting tactic whereby an innocent child is used as a meal ticket for illegal parents.
I don't know, but I think it's awful for ANYBODY to telephone call a innocent child a name like that! What that kids parents did is not his?her fault.

The history is all there.
who know, don't really get why they call them this when some get deported despite the certainty they have american born citizen children so they really aren't anchoring anyone to anything...and im sure they did not just have a babe-in-arms to be"anchored" here in the U.S...but who knows they might...hey maybe even some decriminalized migrants had babies on u.s. soil so they could extend their visas and get green cards etc...do we call them anchor babies too?
not sure where on earth it came from, but some states are changing the law..thank god
Some racist white guy from the 40's.....
