Do i requirement to be a canadian citizen to attain a canadian passport?
i am only a permanent resident in canada. and my philippine passport expires within jan. 2010. i am planning to go philippines in october 2009, but the policy before expiration of the passport doesnt congregate the 6 month if traveling to other country.. what should i do best?

Contact the Philippines embassy around what you can do to renew your passport. I am not Filipino but my embassy renewed my passport through the mail.
You must renew your filipino passport. You have NO choice.
Even if you applied for citizenship today - the processing will NOT be complete by January next year!
you CANNOT get a canadian passport UNTIL you become a canadian citizen and the process for i.e. currently taking about 12 to 18 months.
Why don't you renew your passport now? You can always do that... even if it's not expiring soon. That way, you don't enjoy to worry about anything. If the consulate people asks you why, explain to them that you are planning to go to the Philippines in October and that your passport is going to expire 3 months after that. And that you'd rather be undisruptive than find yourself in an unexpected situation where you stipulation to stay longer there. Believe me, they are not going to turn your application away. Besides, it takes about 6 weeks for the Philippine passport to be processed so in recent times renew it in advance. you can renew your Philippine passport in canada ,apply at the philippines embassy or consulate there are 8 in canada

I didn't understand what you meant by the policy not get-together the 6 month if travelling to another country.
Anyways, I'm only here to say that the answer is Yes, only canadian citizens can procure a canadian passport.
It's the same way in adjectives countries I'm sure, or can a foreigner get a passport in the Philippines if they only live in attendance without being a citizen?
